Roadtrip in North Greece with kids

A travel tip for adults who like nature/good weather/pleasent squares/great food and for kids who like lots of different water activities!

In the summer of 2023 I went to North Greece with my family and we really liked our stay there. The area isn’t touristic at all so it’s a pretty cheap destination. Yet, it has so much to offer and that is why I am giving you our daily program. We went for 11 days and as we were with kids, we opted to stay always 2 days at one location so that we didn’t had to travel each day (except for our first stay). Our journey started in Thessaloniki at the east coast of Greece, we then travelled all the way to the west coast (Parga) and then returned to the east coast (Thessaloniki).

Day 1: Eindhoven -> Thessaloniki-> Pozar

As we had our flight in the morning, we arrived in Greece at noon and after we picked up our car at the car rental, we immediately drove for 1.45h towards Orma, a small village near Pozar. It’s a small village with a charming square in the centre were there are several restaurants.

Day 2-4: Pozar -> Zagoria national park

On our first morning in Greece we went swimming in the Pozar thermal baths. After our swim we made the drive towards Vitsa (3.30h) in Zagoria national park were we stayed at a hotel called ‘En chora vezitsa’. A fantastic place with friendly staff, nice rooms and a fantastic terrace/square in front of the hotel. There is also a small playground for the kids right next to the hotel.

The next day we

On our third day we went rafting

Day 5-6: Zagoria national park -> Parga

We took the drive (2h) towards Parga where we stayed at a hotel with a pool (which the kids enjoyed)

Day 7-8: Parga -> Meteora

3h drive

Day 9-10: Meteora -> Thessaloniki
