Nisi V6 filter system

On my latest photograpy trip to the French Alps I had the fortune to test the new Nisi V6 filter holder and some Nisi filters. After extensive use of these filters during my trip I will honestly describe what I think of it. On my previous trips I have used the Lee filter holder with the Lee landscape polarizer and some Lee/Kase filters… I have only used the 100mm filter system in the past, so now I have tested the Nisi 100mm system.

After unboxing the package above I immediately noticed the filter had 2 screws on the side. A big change relative to previous models is that this filter holder has a locking screw and i abolutely love this! As a landscape photographer I love to explore the area that I will be photographing (so before I start shooting). Sometimes I find 1 composition, but sometimes I find a couple of compositions close to each other. The possibility to run from 1 spot to another with the filters safely attached to the camera is a real plus for me. And even if you find 1 composition, it’s nice to know that the filter holder will not move when locking the holder.

The Nisi landscape polarizer

This was the biggest change for me as I am used to the big LEE landscape polarizer (which I always liked using in the past). Must say that I am still need to get used to rotating the filter with a dial on the adapter ring. But while testing it in a proper way. That means by standing in a river very close to a mini waterfall, I noticed one big advantage! The polarizer on the Nisi filter holder is a lot smaller then the Lee polarizer (33 procent smaller). The result is that I have way less waterdrops on the filter when photographing. So it’s much easier to come away with clean images when photographing close to running water.

Nisi Filters

I can say this short. I used the ND filters, the polarizer, the soft and medium ND grads and they all did there job perfectly. Nisi claims to have superb filters so I expected quality and quality is what I got! And none of these filters had a colour cast as expected.

Conclusion

I really liked the Nisi V6 filter kit! The locking screw is something fantastic. I discovered a big advantage with the polarizer and all the filters I used are pure quality. So for me this system is a nice upgrade! Is it the best on the market, I really don’t know. But I can tell it’s a very good system!
